Korman Residence

Korman Residence is a place to coexist with nature, where you will reconnect with your own inner peace. The almost 160-year-old house stands in unspoiled nature, surrounded by numerous meadows and forests. It is located in the municipality of Lovrenc na Pohorju in Ruta, near the Drava River and the Radoljna River.

About us

The property retains its original ownership and has been in the Korman family, who have, according to known information, lived in the area since at least 1820, from the very beginning. The Korman Residence was a large estate farm in the 19th century, where the owners, Franc and Ula Korman, worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the surrounding population. The last owners of the farm, which operated until 1995, were Jože and Marija Korman.

The farm was home to cows, pigs, sheep and chickens. The estate was rich in apples, pears, plums and cherries, which are still there today. The family was self-sufficient with a flourishing vegetable garden, and they grew corn and wheat and produced their own honey. The farm had a blacksmith’s shop, a carpentry workshop, and a fruit processing press. At one time, the family also made their own bricks.

The first major renovation was carried out in 1863 by the great-grandparents of the current owners. The house was subsequently expanded and renovated over the years. The latest renovation was completed by the great-grandchildren in 2023, fully restoring and reviving the property, thus beginning a new chapter of the estate. The greatest charm of the house is in preserving its originality, with vaulted ceilings, original furniture, an old pottery stove, an enviable collection of old books, and much more. All the other buildings of the farm are still standing – including the monument-protected hayrack.

The residence with its four units, designed in the original style, original furniture and the unchanged layout from the original construction, with pleasant surroundings, a single courtyard, and a garden with a swimming pool offers all the comforts of a four-star categorisation and the authenticity of a 19th-century farmhouse. In the entrance hall, there is a cosy reading corner and a board game area, while the outdoor garden and the surroundings offer plenty of space for sporting activities. There is Wi-Fi in the house and video surveillance in the outdoor areas.

There is a barbecue area next to the carpentry workshop, and a swimming pool and a mini garden house that provide refreshment and relaxation.

Parking is available in the courtyard and the apartments are accessed via the entrance hall. Additional services can be arranged on request: local sightseeing tours, transfers, other tours, events, etc. Guests receive a basket of local delicacies upon arrival.
